Fibroids

Fibroids are non-cancerous growths in and around the womb. They are made of muscle and fibrous tissue and can be in different locations (inside, in the muscle layer and outside the womb) and of varied sizes. Depending on the location and size of the fibroids, women experience different symptoms such as heavy and prolonged periods, irregular bleeding, pain in abdomen, pressure symptoms such as increased frequency of urination or constipation. All fibroids do not need treatment. Treatment is based on the symptoms that the woman has. Although the only method to remove a fibroid is surgery, but there are medical methods to control symptoms.
